♦ Elder Miller week 10 (10-24-22)

Bon Dia!

It has been a good week here in Aruba! Lots of sun, cactus (Cacti????hahah), lizards, and of course...bikes! I am growing to love the people and island here every day. I am always seeing something new and this island is always surprising me.

This week I had my first couple exchanges with other Elders here on Aruba. I was able to go to the south part of the island and meet so many new amazing people. Also got an exchange with one of my zone leaders, which meant a day with a car, that was way nice:).

I've tried some pretty weird stuff so far. I wouldn't say gross, but just different. Tons of rice, plantains, and otter-pops….otter-pops save me out here. It is like the only American food I've seen (But I think they are off brand). They hit the spot after a long day or bike ride, and I always keep the freezer stocked! Another interesting food I had is something called funchi. It reminds me kinda of mashed potatoes in a jello like thing. Apparently, it is pretty big in the Caribbean culture.

Lots and lots of service! Which I have loved to kinda mix up missionary work. We met this awesome guy named Rigo who was an older man, trying to fix up his home so he can rent it out. His entire yard needed to be "chopped"  because of all the grasses and weeds. So we spent probably a total of 8 hours at this guy's house this week chopping away. It was pretty neat, because he said he had always wanted to see God's hand in his life, and now God was sending him messengers directly, is what he said. So we could definitely tell it touched him that we would do that. And we are hoping he'll come to church, and maybe invite us over even if that means not to do service, hahah. While we were picking up piles of weeds I saw the biggest centipede of my life. The thing was so long, and no joke, its body was like 2.5 inches thick. It was massive and we severed it into like 6 pieces and watched each piece continue to move after. Yuck. As long as they stay outside, I'm ok.

I am getting cracked at Dominoes over here. We play with this one member every week, and I am starting to get the hang of it which is so fun. Other than that, our area needs some new faces so we are going to focus on Finding this week. There are so many people out there, we just need enough faith and go look! The languages are coming, slowly, but coming.

Scripture of the week: 1 Nephi 21:10

"They shall not hunger nor thirst, neither shall the heat nor the sun smite them; for he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them".

I love that! God will always be there for us. He is the way, and He is the light. Let Him guide your life!

I'm thinking of you all! Thank you for all the prayers and support! I feel it! Have a great week!
