♦ Elder Miller week 12 (11-7-2022)

 Bon siman tur!

It has been a good week here in Aruba. Lots and lots of service. There is no grass here so people clean their yards with something called "choppy". It's a yard tool that's a cross between a  shovel and a hoe and you use it to remove all the weeds in your yard. We missionaries have a few and we are always putting them to work. Service is great though and the people are never shy about asking. Hahah they are great.

This last week finished up my first transfer in the field. Wild. This next transfer my companion and I are staying put in the north part of the island. Lots of change around us which will be a fun mix up.

Something that always cracks me up is when any native asks me where I am from and I tell them Idaho they always say the land of potatoes. Every single person. They think it is so funny, and so I guess I'm just potato man then.

Met a super awesome guy this week named Benjamin! He has lived in Aruba his whole life and owns a fancy little cigar shop in town. We had a lesson with him and he said that he doesn't smoke, and it's only for the tourists. He's pretty cool and wants to keep meeting with us! We taught him about the Restoration and it was so powerful to testify that Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God. The spirit was so strong and he committed to reading the Book of Mormon every night!

Scripture of the week in Mosiah 24:14

And I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand as witnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions.

I love that! He has our back always and doesn't want us to give up. But at the same time He is much more interested in our growth than in us staying in our "comfort zone". And man, am I learning that now.

Hope all is well with you all. Please know your support means the world to me. Have a great week!
