♦ Elder Miller week 18 (12-19-22)

Bon Siman Hende!

Hope everyone is great, and I hope the holiday season is treating you well. The work has been great here! We are finding so many new people and are finally getting some of our friends to church! I can't say it feels like Christmas here, but it has been super neat to be able to talk to the people about Christ this time of the year. We also got to go caroling which was super cool. So fun to see the faces of people who don't usually get caroled to light up.

I got my new comp on Tuesday! His name is Elder Hall and we are up in Noord and are stoked to tear it up together. He has been on a different part of Aruba, so it has been way fun to get together and make some goals for this area! He has only been out a transfer longer than me though, so we are figuring it out together which has been a fun challenge.

We went on a sweet hike too this week to the highest point on the island called Hoy Burg. Pretty amazing views and great exercise (there were some workers making a look-out half way up the hike that we asked if they needed help. They were down for us to help and so we got to carry up these big pieces of wood which was so cool to help them and see the view at the mid point and top)

One super neat random act of service I was a part of this week was going down the road and stopping to talk to a man doing some yard work. We wanted to just help him gather some weeds he had pulled but when we asked if we could help he smiled and said yes but then handed us this big wad of Christmas lights. It was pretty funny, we spent the next 15 minutes wrapping these lights around his cactus and palm trees. It was pretty sweet, and I think we did a good job:). After hanging up the lights we were able to give him a Book of Mormon and talk to him about it. He was eager to learn more and without us saying anything he committed to coming to church next week. So awesome.

A quick scripture I loved this week in chapter 9 of Isaiah in the Old Testament...
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

I love this scripture. One of my favorite names for our Savior is the Prince of Peace. There is peace in Christ always, we just need to look for it. I encourage you all to take some time this Christmas aside from the presents and crazy, and recognize that peace. It is everywhere when we look. I hope your Christmas is great! I love this time of the year!

Bon Pasco, korda cristo den tur bo hasi!
