Elder Miller week 19 (12-26-22)

Bon Pasco Tur!

I hope Christmas was wonderful for all of you! My week was great, lots and lots of service and a pretty special Christmas Eve baptism!

So I got to be a part of a baptism that happened on the south end of the island on Christmas eve morning. It was rea;;y special. His name is Ronnie and he is a neat guy who knew he wanted to be baptized since the missionaries first met him. I was able to teach him once on an exchange last transfer. The branch doesn't have a baptismal font so that meant it would be a beach baptism! It was so neat, not a soul out on the beach and the whole set up was really sweet. After he was baptized he gave a simple but powerful testimony on the beach and we all stood in a circle and sang Joy to the World. It was super neat to be a part of. Picture perfect, and the spirit was so strong! I LOVE THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST!

I was a painter this week! Or people thought I was until I finished their walls;) I don't know if it is just something people on the islands do around the holidays or what, but it felt like every service opportunity this week was painting. It was fun though and my comp and I are basically bob ross pro painters now.

Christmas was nice. A sweet older lady in the branch had us over for dinner on Christmas eve, and then being able to talk to my family was so fun. Also my comp and I didn't have a meal with a member on Christmas so the senior couple had us two over and they made it really nice. I love them, they are the best!

This week I came across this verse in the Book of Mormon and loved its message. Especially as we are about to start a new year and make new goals. It is in Mormon chapter 8 verse 22

" For the eternal purposes of the Lord shall roll on, until all his promises shall be fulfilled"

I have learned this on my mission so many times: I am too small, in the grand scheme of things, to fluster the work of the Lord. If I put my best foot forward in faith, God will always take care of the rest. We can consider this in our new year's resolutions as well. God's work will go forward, but it is our job to hop on board! One example of this is how the Lord, through President Nelson, is hastening temple work. We need to strive to make the temple one of our biggest priorities. There is POWER there.

Have a great finish to this year! Crazy 2022 is in the books. Hope everyone has a great rest of the holidays! Love you guys!
