♦ Elder Miller week 20 (1-2-2022)
Felis aña nobo tur!
Hope everyone is doing great! 2023 that's crazy! The work has been great this week. We have been meeting so many neat people and have really been able to organize our area book. All the missionaries are happy the holidays are over here because that means less of a hard time getting lessons.
The people here in the islands go crazy for the new year. There were fireworks going off everywhere. It all started a couple nights before new years eve too. Like a week worth of fireworks. All the streets are covered in this red paper aftermath of fireworks. It is wild.
Actually had a pretty neat/funny experience this week because of fireworks. We were teaching our friend Erick and we were covering the Restoration of the gospel. It was an awesome Spanish lesson and the spirit was so strong. It was towards the end of the lesson after we had finished talking about Joseph Smith and the first vision. You could tell Erick was feeling the spirit. And immediately as I finished the first vision account (the door was open in his apartment) a gigantic firework exploded in the background. Oh man, I was giving myself a fist bump in my head;) but the sweet thing was Erick's reaction to what we had just said and the timing of the firework. He looked at us both with his eyes wide open and just said, "wow". It was so legit. I couldn't help but laugh a little at the timing of it all. But it really was neat and we are both stoked to keep teaching him. The fireworks came in clutch!
Got to go on a sweet exchange this week with a new Elder to the island named Elder Olsen. He is a stud and is so fun to work with. We saw a bunch of little miracles and it was a blast to get to know him better.
This week I came across this scripture in the Book of Mormon in the book of Alma and loved it...
Alma 26
37 Now my brethren, we see that God is mindful of every people, whatsoever land they may be in; yea, he numbereth his people, and his bowels of mercy are over all the earth. Now this is my joy, and my great thanksgiving; yea, and I will give thanks unto my God forever. Amen.
We are all His sheep. He cares about all of us! Even enough to leave the 99 to go find the 1. Never forget how much He loves you and how important you are to His plan!
Have a great week! Lots of love from Aruba!
