♦ Elder Miller week 26 (2-13-2023)
Bon Dia!
Hope last week was good for everyone! I had a great week! We have continued to find some new friends which has been so sweet! This week through service and it was so fun to just show people we could get dirty and help out as easily as we could share a message. Service is always fun but sometimes a gamble between chopping weeds in the sun, changing car tires, picking cotton and occasionally some painting!
We had lunch this week with our Surinamese neighbor. He has quite the garden of fruits and vegetables from Suriname, and after helping him with his yard he invited us back this week for a Surinamese fancy soup. It was good, I didn't know what most of what was in it was, but I haven't had soup in so long, I enjoyed it! Super sweet of him to make it all nice for us too!
One day my comp and I decided to mix it up and we went and had studies and lunch on the coast. It was a fun mix of scenery that we don't always get to see, and the water is gorgeous. Beats the apartment for sure!
Other than that I am having a blast! The time is starting to pick up and whenever I stop and think about it, it blows me away! Aruba is so fun, and the people here are so kind.
I was reading in the 36 chapter of Alma this last week and loved these verses I came across in the Book of Mormon...
24 Yea, and from that time even until now, I have labored without ceasing, that I might bring souls unto repentance; that I might bring them to taste of the exceeding joy of which I did taste; that they might also be born of God, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
25 Yea, and now behold, O my son, the Lord doth give me exceedingly great joy in the fruit of my labors;
I think those scriptures describe missionary work perfectly. It has been so neat to see the joy in the little things while I have been out here. President Nelson has recently said that the most important work in the world is gathering Israel, and he said that is where we will find true joy! We can all spread this joy we have with everyone we come in contact with. And no, it doesn't have to be a lesson with a return appointment like I do right now, but in normal and natural ways by sharing the light you all have!
Have a really good week! Happy valentines day! Love you all tons!
