♦ Elder Miller week 42 (6-5-2023)
Bon Tardi!
How is everyone? Hope this last week was a blast! Here in Bonaire it was crazy! Biggest news was that I am leaving Bonaire (wild, I feel like I just got here) but I am headed to the last island of the bunch that I haven't served on yet...Curacao! I am pumped to see the new island, I've heard it is pretty different from the others and is the biggest. Pretty heavy on papiamento too, so I'll have to work hard in my studies to hang onto what Spanish I have.
So that news made this week nuts, but other than that we did a lot of service and played quite a few sports too!
We go to our friend Tito's place pretty often in the mornings to help him as he is in a rush to finish his cargo container converted home before he gets kicked out of where he is at now. So lots of taping & a lot of putty on walls and moving things for him. We were able to sit down with him this week with a member and have a really neat Restoration lesson. It's been so fun getting to know him!
Found a pickleball group on Facebook and we have started going to that during the week which is way fun. There are some good Dutch players. And since I don't leave till Thursday for Curacao I can go to one more basketball night and can say bye to all the guys I've met there! Also got to go play some golf last p-day with an awesome member on the island's only course! Was so fun to swing the sticks again! I miss it!
Maybe the hardest part of the week was saying goodbye to this Branch and all the strong members here. They are the kindest people and are so faithful with whatever they have to offer. So definitely some sad goodbyes but I will be back again, and it will be fun to see all of the growth.
In The Book of Mormon I found a verse this last week that I loved and wanted to share....Mosiah 5:13
13 For how knoweth a man the master whom he has not served, and who is a stranger unto him, and is far from the thoughts and intents of his heart?
This really made me think of the kind of disciple of Jesus Christ I am and the one I want to be. It really comes down to what is in our heart and what we are willing to make most important. And it really is a life-long process of fine tuning and continual change made possible through the Savior's Atonement. I am forever grateful for it! I'll change it up and let you make the invitation today!
I hope you see a lot of good this week! It is out there!
