♦Elder Miller week 51 (8-7-23)
Felis Siman!
Another one, came and went! Crazy. Hope all is good for each of you! Here is a little recap of my week....
We flew to Aruba and had a super great zone conference. Always fun to travel. This time we went on a bigger plane than normal so that was fun and different than the usual 10 seater crop duster. Seeing all the missionaries in the zone and all my old comps is always way fun too.
Yesterday at church there was a testimony meeting and the very first person to go to the pulpit was Harish, an Indian member in the Branch (He has been in Curaçao for 7 years at school away from his family in India). He walked up to the stand holding a big black folder. He started with how he has been so excited for this moment all week. He opened the folder and it was this big diploma that he had finished his schooling and now was a doctor. He then went on to say he couldn't show it to his family right away because his father is in the hospital. He said since he couldn't show his family, he wanted to show his family here. It was so neat. That was it, and then he went and sat down but the members got all excited for him and it was so cool. I love the people here! It really is one big famila!
This week I loved a verse in the Doctrine & Covenants that I would love to share. I don't think I have ever shared a verse from this set of scriptures but for those show don't know, the Doctrine&Covenants was written while Christ's church was being restored and is revelations from God given to His prophets. It teaches truths, doctrines and principles to help guide followers of Jesus Christ. In section 90 this verse really stuck out to me....
24 Search diligently, pray always, and be believing, and all things shall work together for your good, if ye walk uprightly and remember the covenant wherewith ye have covenanted one with another.
Sometimes the things we do to strengthen our personal conversion may seem small, but by doing the small and simple things, we strengthen our relationship with our Heavenly Father. The gospel of Jesus Christ is not meant to be confusing or hard to follow. It is powerfully simple for all those who decide to live in His way.
Have a great week! Soak up summer time!
