♦Elder Miller week 59 (10-2-23)
Hey everyone! Hope the new month is treating you well! How neat was General Conference this last weekend!? Life here in Aruba is good! We are wrapping up a transfer that has been a lot of fun and a lot of work.
Lots of service this past week and I have a sweet little story to tag along with it but I'll try to keep it quick. So... We were visiting an inactive member and ran into this guy across the street who was initially bugged that we parked our car too close to his house, but we ended up offering to 'chopi' (cutting weeds with a hoe) around his house. It was cool to go a few different mornings and help him out, and answer some of his questions. This guy wasn't too interested in our message, but you could tell our service to him totally changed his view about our church and its members. Anyway, long story short we found out he makes engravings for tombstones and signs, and he said as a 'thank you' he wanted to make us something. So, since our missionary tags are in Spanish (not Papiamento yet) he said he would make us tags in the island language. So sweet. But even cooler was the interactions we had with this man and who knows, maybe down the road when he meets missionaries again it'll be a spark for him.
Man, the sunsets lately have been gorgeous. I haven't been good about capturing pictures of it but I'll be better this week and show you next week. Lights up the whole sky in colors.
My scripture I want to share with you this week is tied to the message we heard at General Conference this last weekend. (Worldwide conference of the church where prophets and apostles of God speak to us!). Anyway, this scripture is found in the Book of Mormon.
2 Nephi 27:23
23 For behold, I am God; and I am a God of miracles; and I will show unto the world that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever; and I work not among the children of men save it be according to their faith.
President Russell M. Nelson, announced yesterday afternoon that 20 new temples are in the works to be built! This has been a growing pattern every conference. I think it is so neat the quiet miracle we are seeing with the work of God and his holy house. Despite wars, pandemics, political unrest, and so much more in a world that is pulling further away from God, His work, temples, are still flooding the earth with His light! I am so grateful for temples! I miss them! No unhallowed hand will stop His work, and His miracles!
Till next week! Thanks again for all the love and emails!
