♦Elder Miller week 3 (9-7-22)

Hola a todos!
What a crazy week! Provo has been awesome and I have loved being here. Thank you for all the emails and support, it means so much to me. Oh man, the usual schedule goes something like this: breakfast when I wake up, is a morning class from 8:30 to 11:30 then lunch, with 3 hours after to do language, personal, and companion study. Then dinner with a 6-9 class in the night. So ya I am staying busy over here and learning so much everyday. Spanish is coming slowly but it is so easy to see the improvements everyday. It has been so fun getting to know my district in-person! Definitely beats zoom for sure.

One thing that I've thought is so cool is every night on the dorm floor I am on we all go in the hall and sing "Called to Serve", which is super neat. I'm sure it doesn't sound great but it feels pretty hyped to us. After we pray as a zone and really caps off the day great.

I met a teacher this week that served in my mission, Spanish speaking too. I had so many questions and she answered them all. Turns out Papiamento (a mix of Dutch, Spanish and Portuguese) is real and most of the islands use it a lot. She also said I would probably get a chance to serve on the mainland in Guyana which is really third-world. She said the people are so awesome and so humble and I wish I could go now, but the MTC isn't too shabby either.

My district loves hacky sack which I have never played but it's pretty fun. Kinda like juggling a soccer ball but with a baby bean bag. I know that sounds lame but it is actually not too bad.

Last night we had a MTC devotional and it was so sweet because we got the rare chance to hear from Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf. The spirit in that room was so special and his talk was exactly what I needed to hear. So I am no singer by any means, I love music but can't sing to save my life, but the elders in my district are basically a barbershop quartet (That's what they say, I don't even know what that is) so we have been going to choir practices and were part of a special musical number during the devotional with Elder Uchtdorf. It was so Legit. Like just being in a group of so many missionaries who can sing was so cool, and there was so much power behind it.

This work is so amazing and I am so pumped to be a part of it. I love you guys, hope you've had an awesome week!

I loved this verse in "How firm a Foundation":

The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose

I will not, I cannot, desert to his foes;

That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,

I’ll never, no never, I’ll never, no never,

I’ll never, no never, no never forsake!

Man, that's so sweet. He wants to talk to us. Let your heart out to Him!

Have a great week! Saludos!
