♦ Elder Miller week 5 (9-21-2022)

Saludos!

Wow this is it! Last few days here in Provo are gonna fly by. It has been a great week! The weeks kind of blend together because of the same routine but it really was a great week! SYL (speak your language-Spanish only)  has been...well different for sure. Definitely have said a lot less than any other week. But it has helped my espanol a ton and I think I can survive in the language. I don't know if I will be saying that next week in the field though.:)

Started out on a low note by catching a cold which was frustrating. Made it hard to be totally engaged whether that was in class or doing just regular missionary things. But I think I am finally getting over it and am feeling better every day. It was a blessing to get it over with before I do a lot of traveling.

The hermanas in our district gave Elder Hancock and I animal t-shirts (which I guess is a trend right now) because we both have birthdays while we are here in the MTC. It was super nice of them.  Anyways we took a pic wearing them and we try to wear them when we wanna dominate in sand volleyball. Basically unlock super-lion powers when I wear it,:)  so I'd recommend for sure.

Haven't heard anything on travel plans for when I leave Tuesday, but am anxious to see how that might look. There are a lot of missionaries getting reassigned right now that are originally called out of the country, but because they have no visas yet, they can't go right away. On the ABC islands in my mission (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao) no visa is needed, right away at least, so I won't have to be reassigned. It is a blessing for sure but even if I had to be reassigned it would all work out because God knows where he needs me. So we will see what island I end up on next week. My last classes are this week and then on Tuesday I am off. Wild! MTC has gone by so fast. But I have learned so much.

My last general authority devotional was last night, and it was so good. Elder Johnson of the Seventy and his wife spoke about the Doctrine of Christ. One thing he said that I really loved was this is the LAST TIME laborers will be in the Lord's vineyard. Literally, the game is almost over, the final points are going up on the scoreboard. It is already a blowout, spoiler alert, we won, but every last point is precious to our Heavenly Father. He also talked about how a mission is really supposed to be a member driven, missionary supported cause. So we are all missionaries, and we all have a part to play.

I just want to take a second to appreciate my amazing MTC teachers, Hermano Nelson, Hermana Moser &  Hermana Speakman. They have worked so hard to make our MTC experience awesome, and I hope when my mission is over I will be close to as great of a missionary as they were.

Next time I write one of these I am gonna be neck-deep in a whole new culture and way of life. I think I am ready though, I guess we'll see.;) Favorite Scripture of the week is probably going to have to be my all-time favorite scripture. More like a chapter, but it is in the Book of Psalms in the Old Testament. Chapter 23, a psalm of David. I really encourage you to go and read it. It brings me so much peace in all the unknown I am about to face and I know it will do the same for you...

PSALM 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Have the best week! I love you guys!
