♦ Elder Miller week 82 (3-11-24)

Good morning!

Hey everyone, hope you're all doing well! This last week was a fun one filled with lots of biking, fishing and poisonous pork...well kind of.

On Saturday we went on a road trip with the Elders quorum to the countryside to go on a fishing trip. I was shocked to see no fishing poles when we got there. Just a couple big nets they said is all they needed. It worked though and made it more fun when you got a catch it was usually more than one. It was a good time, had fun with the members, caught a decent amount of fish and it was a nice way to mix up our weekend.

My companion and I decided one night this past week we would try a local food truck not too far from home. We ordered the pork option and pounded it when we got home. It took me about 30 minutes before I was wrecked. Oh man, my comp wasn't phased but I got way sick from it. Thankfully in the morning I had recovered from it for the most part and we had a good day. Right before we started heading home we got a surprise call from a member saying they had some extra food they wanted to feed us. We hurried over and as I was untying my shoes about to go inside they told us they had made...yep, pork. I couldn't believe it. I honestly didn't know if I should laugh or cry. So we blessed that pork, buckled up and made it through. That night wasn't as bad as the first thankfully, but I am officially afraid of Guyanese pork. I hope it doesn't ruin a Cafe Rio sweet pork burrito for me when I get home. It'll wear off🤞🙏.

Other than than that stretch I am doing really well. We are seeing lots of progress with our friends and set a few baptismal dates last week.

Our recent convert Juan Francisco is a beast and got about 10 of his family members to walk with him to church yesterday. Spanish branch in the works I hope!

In the Book of Mormon this past week I read and pondered about something I wanted to share with each of you...

1 Nephi 15:23-24
23 And they said unto me: What meaneth the rod of iron which our father saw, that led to the tree? 24 And I said unto them that it was the word of God; and whoso would hearken unto the word of God, and would hold fast unto it, they would never perish; neither could the temptations and the fiery darts of the adversary overpower them unto blindness, to lead them away to destruction.

Often times I check off the word of God as the scriptures and the words of living Prophets and Apostles. We can read in the beginning of the book of John from the Bible and throughout the scriptures that Jesus Christ is 'the word' aswell. When we 'hold fast' to each of these things, especially our connection and covenant relationship with the Savior we are promised protection, strength and direction daily, even hourly.

So 'hold fast' to the word of God! It'll see you through. Hope this week is good to you, love you all!
