♦ Elder Miller week 38 (5-8-23)

 Bon Dia!

Bon siman everyone! Hope this last week was so good for each of you! My week was awesome, we saw so much good!

On Saturday I was able to video-call into the baptism of my friend back in Noord, Aruba. Rubenita! Her story is amazing and it all started with stopping our bikes about 7 months ago and talking with a man at his fence. After this short interaction with a man who didn't seem all that interested, Rubenita came around the corner and that's where it all started. So much service and many lessons later, she was baptized this last week. I wish I could've been there in person but I was able to chat with her on the phone after the ordinance and she was so happy. Beaming with light! I am so grateful to have been a part of her conversion. What a miracle! I'm excited to stay in contact with her and watch her be such a strength to the Oranjestad Branch.

About two weeks ago we had biked out to an inactive members home to do service and they weren't home. On the way back to our house we stopped to help a man carrying metal rods at a construction site. We got to know him and asked him if we could help him again sometime. This last week he came and got us in his pick-up and we went over to his soon-to-be home and cleaned out a shipping container with him. We met a couple next door there and we are excited to go back and talk with them. But after we helped this man (Tito) without us saying anything he said he wanted to come to church that weekend. He did come and it was so neat. Haven't taught him yet but he loved church and the people there! So fun, I'll keep you updated!

Talking about church. Wow, yesterday we had an absolutely packed house. For about the last 30 years the branch has met in this converted home for our chapel, but they are currently in the process of getting a new building. In the meantime we are making it work. But yesterday every chair was taken up and usually that is the case with tourists off the boats, but yesterday there were only four visitors. The Branch is growing and it is so sweet. I love the people here!

Our mission theme for this next transfer is based on chapter 21 in John of the Bible. Specifically the first 17 verses. A couple verses that really stuck out to me that I wanted to share with all of you were...

Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.

And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

No matter how much we think we know, or how much we want things to go our way, our Savior Jesus Christ knows us perfectly and our timeline perfectly. He knows what we need and will never put us through something He knows we cannot handle. When He invites us to change our nets, yes, even to throw them in a completely different direction; trust Him. Have the faith to take the leap and don't turn back. I know He will never turn back on you!

I love you all so much! The prayers, the emails, and all the support mean so much to me. I am so grateful I get to share parts of my journey with all of you!

Pasa bon siman! Ayo!  -Elder Miller
